Junior Achievement Presents Scholarship Opportunities to High School Students
Junior Achievement of Southwest New England is proud to announce four scholarship offerings this year. JA’s mission is to empower young people to own their economic success through JA’s three pillars: financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. JA recognizes that for a successful future, education is key. This year, Junior Achievement of Southwest New England is proud to offer four scholarship opportunities for high school students who have participated in JA.
Junior Achievement of Southwest New England now offers a scholarship worth $1000 to two students who have participated in one or more JA programs during high school and/ or have served as a JA volunteer. Applicants for the Junior Achievement of Southwest New England Inc. Scholarship must also demonstrate leadership potential through different school activities and be actively involved in their communities. This scholarship is available to students entering their freshman year of college who maintains at least a “B” average. Applications must be sent via E-mail to jkelly@jaconn.org or faxed at 860-525-4403, no later than March 31, 2017.
JA is also proud to partner with The Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS), an academic enrichment and leadership training program for talented high school students from around the world who live and study on the Yale campus in New Haven during the summer. This need-based scholarship will cover the student’s tuition costs for the YYGS program this upcoming summer. YYGS is open to high school sophomores through seniors who have participated in JA programs. Last year, nearly half of the students attending YYGS were from outside the United States, representing more than 100 countries. The application for this scholarship is online at www.globalscholars.yale.edu and is due along with the financial aid package by January 31, 2017.
Junior Achievement USA has also begun a new partnership with Babson College and their President, Dr. Kerry Healey has joined JA USA’s Board of Directors. High school students, who have participated in Junior Achievement programs applying to Babson College, are eligible to apply to the scholarship. The scholarship awards $20,000 annually to a student, attending Babson College. Babson has been named the #1 undergraduate college for entrepreneurship by U.S. News & World Report consecutively for the past 20 years.
