Junior Achievement Of Southwest New England Appoints Somia Farid From Edible Arrangements To New Haven Advisory Board

Junior Achievement of Southwest New England today announced the appointment of Somia Farid, a director at Edible Arrangements, to its New Haven Advisory Board.

“I am pleased to welcome Somia to the board. Her knowledge of working in a global company and experience in technology will strengthen JA’s ability to take innovation to scale and increase our impact in the New Haven community. I’m confident that she is going to make a positive impact to the organization and our efforts to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said Jeremy Race, president and CEO of Junior Achievement.

Somia Farid, the eldest daughter of Tariq Farid, the founder & CEO of Edible Arrangements, graduated from Babson College with a BS in business administration with concentrations in strategic management and analytics. Currently, she is the director of Canadian Business for Edible Arrangements where she is focused on growing the business and improving operations. Prior to this position, Somia was a project manager at Edible working across business lines and companies, including Netsolace and Naranga.

“I’ve grown up in an entrepreneurial family,” said Farid. “I admire innovation and education. I’m honored to be joining the board and contributing to empowering young people through JA programs. To be able to do this in the community that I call home is special to me."
