JA Goes To China

It is 6,781 miles from Wallingford to Beijing, China, and on Wednesday 20 students will be making that trip.

It’s the last leg of the JA Global Connection program, an effort that started last summer when students from China visited Connecticut and continued during the school year as students in both countries formed companies.

The 20 students from Lyman Hall and Sheehan high schools will be spending a week at Fudan University in Shanghai – including visits to United Technologies, the sponsor for the program - and sightseeing in Shanghai, Beijing and Xi’an.

The bus leaves EC Stevens Elementary School Wednesday at 7:30 a.m., bound for JFK International Airport in New York. The Air China jet leaves at 12:50 p.m. and after almost 13 hours will arrive in Beijing. Because of the time change, it will be Thursday afternoon.

During our 12 days in China, we will be sending back reports each day about what the students are doing, learning and experiencing. So check here to keep up with their adventures.

Before you wish us "bon voyage", check out this wonderful video , which was created by United Technologies, summarizing JA China's visit to Connecticut last summer.
