Former Board Member's Legacy To JA

In the spring of 2015, Junior Achievement’s development office received a call from Mark Young, nephew of Harold P. Higgins. Mark informed us that Harold P. Higgins, a dedicated JA volunteer and board president of the former JA of Southeastern CT, had recently passed away leaving a very generous gift to JA.

Harold Higgins was a navy man and dedicated sailor who lived life to the fullest. While working at Electric Boat, he served as a volunteer and mentor to hundreds of students for Junior Achievement’s after school Company program. He believed in the boundless potential of young people. As a volunteer and mentor, Harold witnessed first-hand the powerful impact JA has on students planning their futures. Harold often told family and friends that JA was his life and he wished to ensure that future generations of Southeastern Connecticut students would continue to have the opportunity to benefit through participating in JA programs. We thank Mr. Higgins for his vision, leadership and philanthropy.

Have you also made or are considering making a legacy gift to Junior Achievement?  If so, please let our development office know so we can thank you and welcome you to JA’s legacy club.
