Special Announcement From Our President

Since I became president and chief executive officer of Junior Achievement of Southwest New England nearly 14 years ago, our organization has enjoyed great support from educators, funders and volunteers. Thank you for all that you have done for JA!

Based on that support, JA has become one of the premier youth-serving organizations in this community. This year we expect to reach more than 37,000 young people, the most in our organization's history.

Thanks to your support, we're in terrific shape and the future is full of enormous opportunities. I have tremendous confidence in our board, leadership team and staff, and believe the organization has been set on a trajectory that will take it to new heights.

That's why I've decided this is a great time to announce my retirement. My plan is to retire as of June 30, 2016. I'm looking forward to slowing down a bit, spending more time with my family, having the time to do some writing and continuing to help serve this community. I promise I will continue to be a faithful JA classroom volunteer.

The organization's Executive Committee will begin work immediately on selecting a candidate for president and CEO and plans to bring that individual's name to the board of directors at its meeting in March. The committee is being assisted by Christy Kunz, JA USA vice president, in the transition and anyone from the community who would like to offer suggestions or input is asked to contact Ms. Kunz at ckunz@ja.org.

My years at JA have been richly rewarding and monumentally meaningful to me. During my tenure, we have served more than 400,000 young people, helping prepare and inspire them to be successful in our global economy. We've shown them the opportunities of the future and helped them understand the importance of being financially responsible, prepared for the workforce and entrepreneurially focused. That is why I can leave with a smile on my face, satisfied that we have helped create a strong foundation on which this organization can grow and thrive.

We could not have achieved any of this without so many dedicated supporters, including you. My most sincere thanks and appreciation.

Hope our paths cross again soon!

Lou Golden
